About Me

My photo
Jason asked me to dance for the very first time to one of my favorite songs, & as we sang along, I never imagined how he would later affect my life. We went our separate ways but God definitely had a plan for us because everywhere I went, there he was. We somehow knew the same people, loved the same things, & soon were inseparable. The day after our first date he took me to the cowboy church with him. I was impressed with this man! Gods plans sometimes are different than what we have pictured so when we found out we were pregnant, we were wondering why God had chose this path for us instead of giving us more time to enjoy each other as a young couple & do all the things that make parenting later in life a little easier. Apparently God knew we had it in us to be strong as a couple & as parents because as we prayed, we were reminded that this baby GIRL was a blessing & would give us more than we could've ever dreamed of having on our own. Tylee is her name & boy let me tell you, she's a wild one. She's got a heart as big as Texas, a smile that'll make anyone's day complete, & eyes brighter than the sun! We are happier than ever and we can't wait to see what the future holds for us!

Baby Weston

Just for my own reference, I wanted to blog about my plans for Weston's room. Although everyone that came to my baby gender reveal thought I moved Tylee out of her room for Weston to have the blue room, I definitely don't want to keep it that way! I found my inspiration for his room through a website: This Country Fried Life When I saw it I instantly fell in love! :) This although, makes registering for things on normal websites quite hard. I am going to attempt to do one on toys r us/babies r us but also Etsy.

As for diapers I have decided to give cloth diapering a try. Although it may make me a crazy person, its safer and in the end saves a TON of money. I may keep a few disposables around for babysitters or Jason (haha) but not for daily use.

Still here!

Obviously I am NOT a true blogger because other bloggers (good ones) can post every day even with wild toddlers! But I will do my best still!

Tylee has grown like a weed and is now 3 1/2 years old and goes to an amazing school with incredible teachers! I am also a sub and extended care aid in the afternoons there so it's nice to be with her while I work! I think one of her favorite things to do is sing, (even though when she gets on stage for church and school programs she freezes!) I am SO THANKFUL to hear her most beautiful voice singing "Mary had a little lamb, Jesus loves the little children, angels watching over me, 10,000 reasons, and of course wheels on the bus!" With all of the craziness of the world with little girls growing up too fast, singing Miley Cyrus or other popular teen music at even Tylee's age, it's a blessing to know she's still a little girl in this messy world. She has a heck of a memory, can hold quite interesting and hilarious conversations, and gives the best hugs! She's now into drawing, coloring, stamps, and stickers - which was what my life growing up consisted of! I always wanted her to enjoy those things too but now that she is, I'm becoming sad realizing that means she's growing way too fast for this momma! She got her first puppy, Jewel, a blue heeler and most days loves her but other days knocks her down from all the jumping and licking!

Christmas was SO MUCH FUN with her this year! We did Elf on the Shelf :) I have heard people say, "I don't need an elf to keep my child from misbehaving." WELL, let me tell you, I don't either! But also, that darn elf didn't stop my crazy kid from being simply that...a crazy kid! The Elf was started as a fun Christmas tradition to add another element of teaching the true meaning of Christmas (by the Elf's letters about Jesus) and also to add some special magic to Christmas for a child that (like I said earlier) is growing up in a world that takes the magic out of everything! I also sprinkled powdered sugar around Jason's boots to make Santa's footprints ("brought back snow!") She wanted a "Bow Scooter" so bad and was so excited that Santa brought it but I think she has played more with the $5 princess camera I got her! Haha. Traveling to 3 different places over a 2 week span is quite difficult with an almost 4 year old. I don't think our truck could have been any more full! Next year I am truly considering staying home for Christmas to get a break from the hustle and bustle and also let Tylee have a break. She keeps asking to go home, which is strange since we have just been with grandparents, but I think she gets overwhelmed from traveling so much and staying in different beds and it just doesn't feel quite right to her. Also, next year we will have a 7 month old and that can be crazy overwhelming so between all of that craziness and spending hundreds on gas, it just sounds like a good plan!

Some of my favorite things Tylee currently says a lot....
"Whattttt?"
"Are you kiddin' me??"
The way she says cereal..."cer-io!"
"I don't know about that!"
"Silly me!"
"Silly!" (Suwey!)

We have decided to name our new baby boy Weston Lee. Since we couldnt come up with a name with liked for Tylee that had Lee in the middle name, Jason came up with Tylee so we could incorporate Lee in the first name and give her my middle name. When we were thinking of boy names when Tylee's gender was unknown, I liked Weston and told Jason's sister Abbie and she informed me that Jason was almost named Weston Lee before he was given his now name. I thought that was a neat way to name him and would have a good story behind it! :) I am currently 21 weeks and 2 days along and have recently started to really feel our little stinker kick me like crazy! Sometimes it surprises the heck out of me but it makes me smile and is one of my favorite parts of the day! Since they sleep around 14 hours in there I like feeling him wake up. Usually its around bedtime when he decides to wake up - but of course! ;) BabyCenter.com says at 21 weeks baby has a sense of touch and responds to my touches. Good to know! A friend of mine told me you forget everything when you have another - which makes sense because I see her daughter eating at the table and think, "She can eat that??" But I can also pick up a crying baby and instantly begin patting and bouncing and feel completely comfortable. My friend says that you forget things but also feel so comfortable since having been through it that it's not as scary. I'm beyond excited and pray everyday for another 21 weeks in utero! I completely don't mind a late arrival as long as he is healthy and those lungs are fully developed! (Last to develop in there!)

Funny how you get to talking about your kids...! I once heard that when going on dates with your spouse you should talk about things OTHER than your children. That is REALLY hard to do! Our world consists of Tylee and new baby talk! Talk about each other..?!? Whadaya' mean?? :) Jason and I are doing amazing. (We finally got married in June!!) I have never been happier ever. We are completely opposite people (minus becoming like each other from living together so long!) but being opposite is perfect for us. I can definitely see every day how we have grown as a couple and have become attached at the heart and hip! Our trust has and love has grown so deeply it amazes me and makes me smile. He knows me inside out like the back of his hand and although I know we will go through things we can't even fathem right now, I am secure in our lives together and God's love for us and our love for God. I can't wait to grow older together and look back on the years.

ALSO! I just graduated college at Tarleton State University with a Bachelors in Science, but really a degree to teach Family & Consumer Sciences. We don't plan to move away from Stephenville because we love it so much there, so finding a job is going to be tough. I plan to challenge the EC-6 teaching exam and see about teaching 1st grade. We shall see where the Lord takes us! (Graduated and STILL dont know what I want to do with my life! ;)

That's it for now folks, this momma should get some rest!

Family Nature Walk

Since Saturday I wasnt feeling so good and we didnt do much but lay around the house, we decided we needed to go do something together Sunday :) So we went to the park and went on a nature walk and found some different creatures and leaves and such. It was a little hot but with a couple bottles of water and sun screen, we were good to go! Tylee brought along her basket so she could pick up different colored leaves we found along the way and we had a great time! Here are a few pictures we took of our adventure! Dad was sure to turn it into a Dora adventure at the end by telling Tylee that to leave we had to go past the playground, over the big bridge, and to the car. Thankfully we didnt see Swiper the Fox! Dad told Tylee he wouldnt let Swiper steal our bridge boards even if we did see him! What a great Daddy-o! :)

Our first spotting of ducks! "Quack quack!" Tylee cheered along with them!

(Top Left): Tylee and Dad watching the ducks! (Top Right): Dad showing Tylee the turtle's hard shell for his back.

The turtle we found by the tennis courts making his way to the water!

Tylee's basket full of colorful leaves!

Tylee enjoying Dad's time off from work - were LOVING this!! Arent we the luckiest girls?? :)

We found a squirrel in his tree :)

We found the playground, woohoo!

The only decent picture Dad snapped of Tylee and I...were going to have to work on his camera skills I'd say :P

Swim Lessons!

Tylee started "swim lessons" last Monday, June 18th, 2012. We wanted to start getting her in the water and used to it so she wouldnt have any problems later. I'm really afraid of water and Im uncomfortable in water and I dont want that for her so we started her in a class at the local pool, Splashville. Its such a fun place :) At first I signed her up for level 1 and we got there at 9:30 am all ready to go and the kiddos looked to be about 3 except for one other little girl who looked around Tylee's age. The teacher told the kids to line up and sit at the edge of the pool and she proceeded to tell them that they could only put their feet in when she said it was ok and told them all these different things and then told them to go ahead and put their feet in. Most of them did, but Tylee did not. The other girl Tylee's age screamed and didnt even want to sit, haha. The teachers tried to help Ty put her feet in but Tylee got scared and came back to me. Thats when I decided this age group wasnt for her. Previously when we were signing in I learned about a Mommy and Me class that was for kids that werent ready for Level 1 - where you swim with your child to get them acustomed to the water and the teachers so they are more comfortable with them instructing them in the water WITHOUT the parents. I also feel that Tylee is at a good listening stage but not at the "do what I say exactly as I say it" listening stage. I saw a big difference between Tylee the 2 year old and all the 3 year olds. One year, what a difference in being able to do things when they are told to you! And without a tantrum!

So we left and came back an hour later and tried the Mommy and Me class and BOY! It was COLD! Burrr! 10:30 am wouldnt be so bad if the wind wasnt blowing so hard! Landon, a boy Tylee has grown up with was also there. His mom Mary is a friend of mine who I went to high school with so it was nice to have someone we knew there! Every morning Tylee wakes up and says, "Landon, where are you?" It's too cute. And we get our swim suits on and head to see him at the pool! We have one week left this upcoming week :) And hopefully next summer once she's 3 she will be ready for level 1 :) I really enjoy being able to do this with my little girl and having a schedule is nice.

(Top Left): Tylee and Landon giving big hugs after swim lessons :) (Top Right):Tylee and Landon cheesing for the camera after swim lessons, cute kiddos! (Its so bright because the camera isnt the best and was just a huge white light and thankfully I adjusted the exposure enough to make out the photo. ONE of these fine days I'll buy myself a NICE camera and wont have to worry about that happening! :)

Parental Love

Here lately, Tylee has been staying home with me since school is mostly out for me. I am taking two online classes because the one class I REALLY needed to take at the school this summer to help relieve some of next falls class load was cancelled :/ Which means I will be taking the full 18 hours next fall, which is ok, but something I have never done and I am VERY nervous about. Anyway, since Tylee has been home with me, she has been going through phases where she doesnt want anything to do with Jason when he gets home from work, which is kinda sad and is quite the annoyance when she freaks out when I need my time to talk to him and hug him and say hello. She exclaims, "MINE! MINE!" and throws herself at me and acts as if she's FURIOUS at him for taking me away from her. We are trying to teach her that although she is special, we are the more important ones. God said himself that parental relationships are more important than the children...they should not be fended to as if they are the princesses and make relationships be put on hold. Todays society has definitely made it seem as so but it's nice to know that other people agree with what I believe. But it is DEFINITELY harder than it sounds TEACHING children this.

So when she does this throwing herself nonsese, I sit her on the couch and explain to her that Mommy and Daddy love each other and that Daddy is very nice and loving and loves Mommy and even though Tylee is special, Mommy and Daddy need time to talk and that after we are done talking to each other we will talk to her next. After we had talkd for a few minutes she came over more calmly and I told her to tell me, "Excuse me Momma." and she did and so then we were able to get somewhere but she still didnt really want much to do with Dad so I asked her if she wanted Dad to take her outside, and thats when she got excited and said yes and grabbed his hand. Its been a joyous ride, hahaha.

But then yesterday, we spent all day just kind of being lazy and enjoying the day, (they did anyway, I have had a hellacious end of the week with a few bad headaches and was fighting that off yesterday and was so thankful for Jasons help!) so after I got back from a friends bridal shower Tylee went up to Jason and said, "Poop, poop, poop." and I laughed and said, "Aha, she loves you again, happy?" And he joked and said, "Take it back...when your potty trained then we'll talk..." hahaha. But she REFUSED to let me change her and he just refused to change her because he already had to when I was gone earlier. But of course she hadnt really pooped and I knew it, and I told him just act like your gonna change her and I'll do it, but she had just peed. She's getting better at telling us when she needs to be changed, but she just says poop and doesnt know the difference. Anyway, it was funny to see how it changed from not wanting Dad to not wanting Mom. I've done some research and have found the Dad thing is common and have found some cures and helpful hints for it, so were not too worried, it's just kinda sad during the week when it happens.

(Top Left): Mom & Tylee making silly faces for the camera...CHEESE!
(Top Right): Dad & Tylee snuggling on Ty's couch. Tylee's favorite thing to do when we lay with her is to put her arm around our neck and squeeze us when we try to get up so were stuck and have to come back down and hug her...and do that bunches!

(Top Left): Tylee and I went out past our main yard and went to where we have tall beautiful yellow flowers and cut some off for our vase in the living room :) She was very pleased and was quite the big helper! I am so blessed! (Top Right): Before bed Tylee decided she wanted to wear Moms (fake, but still beautiful) pearl necklace and of course matching bracelets! We blow dried her BEAUTIFUL blonde hair and she looked like an absolute princess in her purple and lime green fishy jammies! (Thanks cousins!!)

Kitchen adventures

As a FCS (Family & Consumer Science) major, I go to school and learn about different ways to prepare meals and next Spring I will even learn how to can foods, but as with every major, you learn alot from experiences on your own much more than from reading straight from text and "memorizing" for tests that you insist you do good on so that your grades stay up which lead to graduation and hopefully, a good job in the end of it all! Well, as I am only 22, I still have ALOT to learn but thankfully, I have a daughter and fiance who keep me on my toes. I want to keep them both as healthy as possible and happy at the same time! They are both stubburn when it comes to green vegetables - and Tylee manily learns this from her father. (Which he says will only get worse as she grows older and sees what he orders at restaurants - boo!)

Anyhow, I'm getting better at more complicated meals - I can rock a roast and I think I can fry just about anything, but Im still not such a great rice cooker, and when recipes have enormous ingredient lists, I cringe! So Im sort of on a self journey to becoming a better cook and also looking into growing my own vegetables and herbs! Cant wait! Here are a few here and there photos...

Freezing tomatoes - pretty dang easy! :)

Perfect brown gravy - thank you Momma for teaching me this skill!

Can you tell which spice I'm fond of? Hahaha...my cabinet has about 30 spices in it...spices are everything and Im quite obsessed!

My new favorite dish from Cotton Patch...Blackened Tilapia is now in my very own kitchen! Wahoo! One of the easiest things I've ever made, I was VERY excited!

Fathers Day at the lake!

This year instead of going back to Buda for Camp Ben we decided to stay back in Stephenville. We were so exhausted from the constant going and going and needed some rest and just some time to relax and enjoy ourselves as our own little family. Jason also really needed to get in some double time at work (on Fathers Day) so we celebrated him by going to the lake on Saturday instead and cooking some burgers and swimming and just relaxing. We ended up forgetting a few things like cheese, a burger flipper, haha, but it wasnt a big deal because we just wanted to have a chilled out day and not have any worries! All in all it was a great day! The next day when he got home from work I cooked chicken fried steak, one of his favorites and we had sweet ice cream sandwich treats and gave Daddy golfing clothes he REALLY needed!! :) It was a great weekend!

Daddy & Uncle David got out on the water - while Cass and I watched and shot videos and photos - you wont see us breakin our backs out there! But they did great and had a good time!

Daddy & Tylee splashing in the water! It always takes her a little while to get used to it but we had a lot of fun hanging out and playing together. She kept telling Cass, "Get chu" (get you) and she would wiggle her fingers at her like she was coming to get her, super cute :) She's a blast!
